The following services are available to UT-Austin faculty from the AudioVisual (AV) Library offices:
Reserve ServicesPlace audiovisual materials in the collection on reserve for courses each semester. Students receive priority use of the materials on equipment inside the library. Library materials can be on reserve for more than one instructor or course and may be scheduled for classroom showings by other instructors. Faculty may place personal or departmentally owned materials on reserve if they are compatible with AV Library equipment. Reserve Request Forms are available in the AV Library offices or on-line.
Faculty PickupsBook DVDs, videocassettes and films for classroom use on specific dates. The pick up date, the use date, and the return date are worked out with the AV Library office staff around prior bookings, in-house reserve use and license agreements. Use could range from same day pick up and return to 7 day loan. Materials are generally picked up the day before the screening date and returned the following day. Faculty may send their TAs to pick up materials from the AV Library.
To reserve materials for a "Faculty Pickup", please provide:Two media instruction rooms, FAC 327 and 344, have equipment and may be scheduled by UT faculty for face-to-face instruction using media materials. Use of these rooms is free of charge. Faculty may use library owned DVDs, videocassettes and videodiscs, or they may provide their own. Faculty can request start/stop access to equipment or media can be played from the AV Control Room. Use of 16mm films is limited to materials in the AV Collection and these can be scheduled only in FAC 344.
To schedule a library media room, please provide:
Faculty may request purchases of materials to be used in their courses. Requests should include specific course numbers the material will be used in and the semester the material will be needed. Requests of multiple titles should be in a priority order. Ideally, purchase requests should be submitted prior to the semester in which the materials will be used.
