- New E-Book: International Tables for Crystallography
-
UT-Austin users now have access to the online version of the International Tables for Crystallography, the well known definitive reference work that provides "articles and tables of data relevant to crystallographic research and to applications of crystallographic methods in all sciences concerned with the structure and properties of materials. Emphasis is given to symmetry, diffraction methods and techniques of crystal structure determination, and the physical and chemical properties of crystals. Each volume also contains discussions of theory, practical explanations and examples, all of which are useful for teaching." Content is available both in interlinked HTML format and PDF. Purchase was made with funds from the Skinner Library Endowment.

- Mallet Library Marks 30 Years in New Location
-
On August 11, 1978, the Mallet Library opened its doors in its new location under the recently constructed Welch courtyard. Patrons streamed in to take advantage of a library facility that seemed large and modern compared to the overflowing, crumbling library on the 4th floor. The new library had almost 12,000 square feet of floor space and 115 seats, and the books stacks were less than half full. Thirty years later, the library is still here, though the stacks are a bit more crowded now. The Mallet collection has since more than doubled in size, from 38,000 volumes to over 94,000. For more information please visit the History of the Mallet Library page.

- New Journal Archive: ScienceDirect Biochemistry, Genetics and Molecular Biology
-
The UT System Libraries have purchased Elsevier's journal backfile package for biochemistry, genetics, and molecular biology titles. This package contains 140 titles and extends back to their first volumes as far back as 1947. The System has also purchased the Institute of Physics (IOP) journal archive. These purchases were made possible via the Academic Library Collection Enhancement Program funded by the Board of Regents. Journal archive purchases are extraordinarily expensive and are being made on a case-by-case basis based on System balloting and available funds.
