Access via this outdated version was disabled by CAS as of 1/31/2009.

- New user? We recommend that you use the new SciFinder Web interface instead of downloading the legacy client software, which will be phased out by mid-2010. Off-campus (remote) access via the client will end Dec. 31, 2009.
- UT-Austin students, faculty and staff can use SciFinder Scholar from any computer that has the client software installed and that is connected to or proxied through the campus network.
- In order to access SciFinder Scholar from your computer, you must first download and install the SciFinder Scholar client software. Click on the button below and enter your UT EID to download the software. You must have your browser set to accept cookies. If your EID is refused permission to view the download page, review Who can use SciFinder or contact the Chemistry Library.
- UT students, faculty and staff may also search SciFinder Scholar on UT-EID workstations in the science libraries on campus.
- Due to license restrictions, SciFinder is not available to the general public or walk-in library users.

What Is SciFinder Scholar?
SciFinder Scholar is desktop software that provides integrated, user-friendly access to the Chemical Abstracts Service (CAS) databases:
Chemical Abstracts (CAPLUS)
- comprehensive indexing of chemical literature, 1907-present
Registry
- chemical structures, names, synonyms, CAS Registry
Numbers, calculated and experimental properties, predicted spectra
CHEMCATS
- commercial availability of chemicals
CHEMLIST
- regulatory information on chemicals
CASREACT
- single and multistep organic reactions, 1840-present
MEDLINE
- biomedical literature, 1949-present
